Personae: The Quest for Flight

My intention in this project is to portray the spirit of human innovation through the personae of an inventor. Illustrated below is the determination of a person contrasted with the image that they are to the world.
The fantastical nature of the pictures introduces a story like aspect to the project. My question to you is, does the inventor break the boundries of human understanding and fly? Or does he buckle under the skepticism of the world and give up?
If he does fly, does he even bother to tell anyone...
